Stop rebooting during big games
#1
Posted 27 July 2010 - 07:30 PM
This is the second time in the last week that I was in a big game of 10-12 players and the server rebooted. If someone is rebooting the server, please have a little courtesy and wait until there are fewer people on-line. If it is the server rebooting itself - please fix the problem.

i know of a night if there was changes to be made for a server restart we always waited till noone was in server, or if there was lots of people in there we would always give a big restart warning and wait till the round ended, if there is no warning and its just happing it is probley the server doin it not a admin, but i will pass the word along thanks

On further consideration, I cannot imagine any of our Administrators rebooting at such a time. I was pissed and flew off the handle, I apologize. I will review the logs and see if there is any indication of what is going on. If the issue is with the server however, such info will only be in the server logs, not the game logs.

I think you'll find that the server crashed.
I'm very confident in those who have access to the restart button, are responsible enough not to abuse this action.

Looks like we probably have a problem with the Asian_aaa Lock-on. I'll try to disect it a little more.

Thanks for fixing it. I hope this wasn't going on too long as it irritates the hell out of the players. I am surprised that the game's solution to the physic's problem is to reboot, but at least the log provided enough clear info to allow you to figure out the solution. We'll keep an eye on what the server is doing.

I think the physics thing was more of a forewarning that it is going to crash, not the cause itself.
